Nóra Ní Dhomhnaill won the Best Fresher award at the Societies Awards in her first year as an Arts undergrad. This she earned through her efforts for both the Cumann Staire and the Lit&Deb Society. For her second year she was chosen to be the organiser of Arts Ball 2009, the most high profile of all the formal dress balls of the university. This event she grew to a new record attendence of over 1300 and oversaw its development into the first multi-venue ball with three music zones. Nóra was elected to the role of Reachtaire at the 2010 AGM to lead the committee into the 2010/11 academic year. She oversaw the growth once again of the Ball to 1,800 attendees. Nóra was awarded a special award for her outstanding knowledge and experience with the Arts Ball was awarded “Events Guru” at the Socs Awards 2010/11.
Nóra is from Buncrana, Tír Chonaill and can speak Irish, English and Spanish. She did the single-honours history course for her B.A. degree. Nóra completed a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester in 2013. Her preferred areas of historical study are early-modern Europe, the developement of the nation-state, and the nationalism movement.
