Michael joined An Cumann Staire in the first year of his B.A. degree. He was the representative of first year history students on the Coiste for the academic year 2008-09. Michael organised the Table Quiz and got heavily involved with the society. He was elected to be the organiser of Arts Bál 2010, which took place on the 17th of February and broke all previous records. Michael took on the vital role of treasurer for the year 2010/11 in his final year in Cumann Staire and in OÉ Gaillimh. He fufilled his duties well and was vital in the running of the 2011 Ball, helping Nóra. Since leaving Galway in 2011, he has been living and working in Belfast ivolved working on the sets of major television series.

Michael is from Buncrana Tír Chonaill, with Béal Feirste roots. He studied History and Geography for his BA degree. Michael has a particular interest in military history and the role of fortifications, aswell as the post-war Anglo-Soviet and Anglo-American relations. Michael is one of the infamous group of CS members who came from Buncrana.
