Julia Broemmel studied in Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh for the academic year 2007-08 and served as the Erasmus representative on the Coiste that year. In her position, she organised the Cumann Staire trip to Rome, Pisa and Firenze in March 2008. Apart from general CS activities such as guest lectures and trips, she helped organise the CCS/IHSA and Aistir conferences we hosted in February 2008. Julia was also part of the Arts Bál organising Fo-Choiste and designed the Arts Bál 2008 poster. In the summer of 2011 she returned to work and live in Galway for a year, at the same time attending several Cumann Staire events.
Julia Broemmel is originally from Mainz (Deutschland) where she is completed of her M.A. in history at Johannes Gutenberg-Universitat Mainz upon her return. She spent 2012/2013 doing a Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs course at the American Univeristy in Washington D.C. as a fulbright scholar. Her research interests focus on 19th century European social history; the colonisation of North America; the French Revolution; and, concerning German history, the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. Along side history, Julia studied English and French as her M.A. minor subjects. Julia is also a musician, you can see her website with some of her music here. She can speak English and German fluently aswell as varying levels of French, Latin, and Russian. Julia also attended a year-long course of Irish language at Áras na Gaeilge during her Erasmus time at Ollscoil na hÉireann Gaillimh.
