John joined An Cumann Staire in his first year. He is studying History and French for his Bachelor of Arts (International). John was elected PRO in the first and final years of his B.A. which included all promotion and social media aspects of the society. He was involved in organisation of the Halloween Table Quiz and the Arts Ball during his first year. Later in the year he taught himself how to update and remodel the Website. John again ran the online operations: social media and the new website in his second year. In his second year, Clíona and John co-organised Arts Ball 2012, which raised €10,000 for charity and had over 1,450 attendees. He also organised the annual society trip abroad to Portugal in May 2012. John spent his third year abroad at the L’Institut d’Études Politiques, Université de Strasbourg and served as Erasmus Rep. In the summer of 2013 John again rebuilt the website of the society as well as undertaking research into the history of the society. He again organised Arts Ball 2015 which doubled in size from the previous year. On the back of this, he was elected as Arts Ball 2016 organiser.

John is originally from Muintirevlin, Contae Tír Eoghain, though spent most of his school-years in Ennis, Contae An Chláir. He can speak English and French. John has an interest mainly in the long nineteenth century and issues of imperialism, diaspora and nationalism; particularly that of Britain, France and Ireland.
