Dónal is a distinguished member of the CS. He completed his B.A. degree in 2010 in which he studied German and Irish to great effect. Dónal took his Erasmus year of 2008-09 in Germany and was elected as Ionadaí Gaeilge for the year 2009-10. He is a great patron of Cumann Staire, still attending many get-togethers in Galway, even when studying in Cork.

Dónal Ó Catháin is from Cathair Chorcaí and speaks Irish, English and German. Dónal's sister, Clíona is now carrying on his mantle in CS. Dónal was also an indispensable member of Cumann Craic and German Soc. Dónal spent 2010/11 in his home city of Corcaigh doing a Masters. In 2011, he returned to Galway to do a PhD in Gaeilge and was duly elected as an OCM for An Cumann Staire for the same year.
