The following constitutional changes were made to the CS constitution at last night’s AGM. These will be incorporated into the constitution pending the wording being looked at and USCG approval.
2.3 As a result of tradition and academic overlap the CS is to make every effort possible to assist the continuing existence of student associations for students of archaeology, classical civilisations and geography. The Coiste of the CS is to organise a restart of these societies in the event of their failure to organise at the start of the academic year.
9.1.2 Annual trips and other primarily social trips are not to be funded by the CS. Such trips are to be funded by those going and by the availing of university funding by the trip organiser on the travelling group’s behalf.
3.3 A past member may be elected if having spent a period not at NUI Galway, this being on the presumption that they will be a student at the university for the following academic year.
188.8.131.52 Should they be elected and not enroll at NUI Galway, the position should be re-opened for nominations.
8.3.19 Each person who has served as a committee member for 2 or more academic years which must include a full term as a core coiste member is entitled to 2 non-transferable complimentary tickets for a period of 5 years after being a coiste member.
184.108.40.206 There is to be an additional year for anyone who has served as Runaí or Cisteoir.
220.127.116.11 Thereafter this period they are entitled to one complimentary non-transferable for a further period of 5 years.
8.2.20 Each person who has served as Ionadaí TharLar who came from a university outside of Ireland is entitled to 2 complimentary non-transferable tickets for a period of 4 years.
18.104.22.168 Thereafter they are entitled to 1 complimentary ticket for a further period of 5 years.
8.9 A minimum of 12% of all proceeds from tickets sold for the arts ball must be given to charity.
8.9.1 Charities that are chosen for donations from the proceeds must be decided upon by a committee vote.
8.10.1 Any single miscellanous expense (i.e. Not hotel, wine or light and sound) of the ball that will exceed €4,000 must be put to a committee vote and must receive a 51% majority
8.10.1 Any single miscellaneous expense that will exceed €8,000 must be put to a committee vote and must receive a two-thirds majority vote. Any miscellaneous expense that will exceed €10,000 must be put to a committee vote and must receive a two-thirds majority vote. The Staff-Cisteoir must also be consulted and clearance given by them.
Article 10: Annual Trip Funding
10.1 Annual trips and other primarily social trips may be funded by the CS. Such trips should be funded by those going and by the availing of university funding by the trip organiser on the travelling group’s behalf. The trips may be partly subsidised up to a maximum of an additional 50% of the cost not subsidised by the university funding available.
10.2 Approval must be given by the Staff-Cisteoir for the CS funds to be used.
