This Thursday – 21st October – An Cumann Staire is honoured to have
Professor Catherine Clinton give a guest lecture on the relevance of
Mary Chesnut’s memoir of the American Civil War. Mary Boykin Chesnut
(March 31, 1823 – November 22, 1886) was a South Carolina author noted
for writing a sophisticated diary describing the American Civil War
and her upper class circles of Southern society. The talk is on at 7
p.m. in the Siobhan McKenna theater (Arts Millenium Building) with Q&A
session over refreshments afterwards. All welcome!
Next Wednesday – the 27th – we are holding our annual table quiz, only
this year it’s Halloween shtyle! So put your best fancy-dress thinking
